Brightside Dental Supports Smile In Pink Day During National Smile Month 2014

National Smile Month is the UK’s largest and longest-running oral health campaign. The aim is to promote three key messages, all of which go a long way in helping us develop and maintain a healthy mouth. They are:

  • Brush your teeth for two minutes twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste
  • Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks
  • Visit your dentist regularly, as often as they recommend.  pink 1

The aim of National Smile Month is to ultimately improve the UK’s oral health. Organised by oral health charity, the British Dental Health Foundation, the campaign hopes to raise awareness of important health issues, and make a positive difference to the oral health of millions of people throughout the UK.

Dental Charity Bridge2Aid has completed its first ever national day in partnership with the British Dental Health Foundation.

Brightside Dental participated in the event that took place on Friday June 6th, during National Smile Month, by the charity  urging members of the dental team to wear pink for just one day and raising money  in a show of support for bringing dental pain relief to some of the most remote communities in the world.

The vital work being carried out by Bridge2Aid highlights that the messages of National Smile Month are not only relevant in the UK but all over the world.

Three quarters of the world’s population has no access to the most simple dental pain relief, leaving billions to face a daily battle with pain in the toughest of life circumstances.  Bridge2Aid is working to address this terrifying problem. Our vision is to provide emergency dental training for Health Workers in all remote communities in the developing world, therefore creating sustainable access to safe Emergency Dental Care to millions of people currently suffering from dental pain with no hope of treatment.
