Brightside Dental Smile of the Month October 2022

Liam first visited Brightside Dental in 2021, after being recommended by a friend who had cosmetic dental treatment with us.

Liam knew what he wanted to change about his smile. His front teeth had become worn and discoloured over time. This left him unhappy with the colour of his teeth and the spaces between them.

Following a consultation with Dr Ketan Shah and a discussion on the available treatment options, Liam chose to have Invisalign clear aligner treatment to align his teeth and close the spaces.

The treatment went very smoothly and only took 10 visits to the practice in total from fitting of the aligners, over a period of under a year.

Less appointments were needed in the practice as we used Dental Monitoring, using advanced A.I. technology, to keep a weekly review on the progress of his treatment remotely. This suited Liam very well as he works outside of London and appointments that were required were pre planned to fit around his schedule.

Liam’s treatment consisted of:
• Invisalign teeth straightening
• Teeth whitening
• Composite bonding of the front teeth
• Retainers to prevent unwanted movement of the teeth
Liam has achieved the smile he always wanted in a very conservative manner with no damage to his teeth and is now all set for his upcoming wedding.

Watch Liam share his experience of the process and how he feels about his new smile:

Brightside Dental Smile of the Month September 2022

Sam first visited Brightside Dental in 2021, having found us on Instagram. Prior to this, she had a consultation elsewhere and also considered online ‘direct to consumer’ treatment.

She was impressed with the examples we were able to show her of successful treatment we had carried out similar to what she was looking for, and chose to go ahead with Brightside.

Sam was mainly unhappy with the gaps between her front teeth, which had bothered her for many years. She had had composite bonding in the past, however this had discoloured her teeth and did not resolve her problem.

Following a consultation with Dr Ketan Shah and a discussion on the available treatment options, Sam chose to have Invisalign clear aligner treatment to straighten her teeth.

The treatment went very smoothly and only took 10 visits in total, over a period of 15 months. Less appointments were needed in the practice as we used Dental Monitoring, using advanced A.I. technology, to keep a weekly review on treatment progress remotely.

Sam’s treatment consisted of:

  • Invisalign teeth straightening
  • Teeth whitening
  • Composite bonding of the upper front teeth
  • Retainers to prevent unwanted movement of the teeth

Sam shares her experience of the process and how she feels about her new smile:

Brightside Dental Smile of the Month July 2022

Ellen has been a regular patient of Dr Paarth Darbar at Brightside Dental for many years.

She had regular routine treatment, including dental assessments and hygiene but was now looking for a cosmetic improvement.

She was referred to the Orthodontist to have some orthodontic treatment carried out. She had issues with her bite, which was corrected by the Orthodontist and her teeth were now very nice and straight.

However one problem remained: she had hypodontia. Hypodontia is a condition where one or more teeth are missing. Most commonly, the second tooth on either side of the upper front teeth (the lateral incisors) is affected by hypodontia.

Ellen’s braces had closed the gaps in her teeth which were now nice and straight, but this had resulted in the canine teeth being next to the central incisors. Although functionally this is not an issue, aesthetically this can make an individual very conscious about their smile, as the canines are
now at the front of the smile and easily noticeable due to their pointy nature. Missing lateral incisors occur in approximately 2% of people.

Ellen was unsure if anything more could be done to improve these teeth and achieve the perfect smile for her. We sat down and discussed all the options with Ellen, which included crowns, veneers and composite bonding. After due consideration, she decided to proceed with composite bonding as this was the simplest and most cost-effective solution. It was also least damaging to the teeth.

Composite bonding is a procedure where tooth coloured filling material is added to alter the shape, size and appearance of the teeth. The colour is carefully selected to blend in with the natural tooth. Most of the time it can also be carried out without any needles!

This treatment typically lasts anything between three to seven years (on average five). In addition to this, treatment is completed on the same day, so you leave with your new fresh, beaming smile!

Ellen’s treatment was completed in just 90 minutes. The filling material was seamlessly blended with her teeth so they were almost unnoticeable! Ellen now has the smile she always desired.

Brightside Dental – Smile of the Month March 2022

Aneka has been a Brightside Dental patient, under the care of Dr Ketan Shah for many years, since she was at school. She hadn’t visited us for a few years but was prompted to book for an appointment by her mum who had decided to have treatment to improve her smile.

Aneka attended for a consultation. She was mainly concerned about her crooked front teeth and the colour of her teeth.

Treatment options to improve her smile were discussed. Aneka then began her treatment with Invisalign clear aligners to straighten her teeth, starting the journey with her mum who was having the same treatment!

Treatment carried out:

  • Invisalign teeth straightening
  • Teeth whitening
  • Composite bonding of upper incisors

Initially, Aneka wasn’t concerned about her small front tooth on the upper right side, however once her teeth were straightened and whitened, she decided to have composite bonding on that tooth and her three other front teeth, to improve the shape. This is a straightforward and non-invasive treatment, which as you can see, can make a huge difference to a smile.

The process was completed in two years, with delays due to covid and Aneka’s availability to visit the practice. Aneka now has an even better smile than she could have ever imagined and feels much more relaxed and confident. She shares her story here:
