Dairy products

Milk, cheese and yogurt aren’t just good for your bones, they’re great for your teeth too!

Packed with calcium and phosphorus, which help strengthen tooth enamel and protect against decay, cheese helps balance the pH in your mouth, making it harder for harmful bacteria to thrive.

Plus, the protein casein in dairy actually helps repair weak spots in enamel. So, next time you reach for the cheeseboard, remember you’re doing it in honour of your teeth.

2. Crunchy fruits & veggies

Think apples, carrots, celery and cucumbers. These crisp, crunchy foods work almost like a natural toothbrush when you chew them. They help clean your teeth as you eat and stimulate saliva production which washes away leftover food particles.

Plus, they’re packed with vitamins and fibre, making them great for your whole body, not just your mouth.

3. Nuts

Almonds, cashews and Brazil nuts are a smart snack choice. They’re full of minerals like calcium and phosphorus which support strong teeth and they’re naturally low in sugar. Chewing nuts also gets your saliva flowing and more saliva means better protection against plaque and acid attacks. That’s a win-win!

4. Fatty fish

Fatty fish like salmon, mackerel and sardines are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D. These nutrients help reduce inflammation in your gums and improve your body’s ability to absorb calcium, both very important for maintaining healthy teeth and gums. Vegetarian or vegan? Tofu is a great plant-based alternative with many of the same benefits.

5. Leafy greens

If you’re not already adding spinach, kale or lettuce to your meals, here’s your sign.

These leafy greens are full of calcium, vitamins A and K and folic acid, all of which help strengthen enamel, reduce gum inflammation and support overall oral health.
They’re light on calories, but heavy hitters when it comes to nutrition!

When it comes to oral health, it’s not just about cutting out the bad stuff – try adding a few of these into your weekly routine and help give your smile the boost it deserves.

Want more advice?
