Nervous about visiting the dentist?

We’ve got you covered – say hello to the home of calm and gentle dentistry in the heart of North London.

If you’re nervous about visiting the dentist to the point where your nerves are getting in the way of you booking an appointment you need, you’re absolutely in the right place – at Brightside Dental, we take pride in calming fear, nerves and anxiety, and helping you get the dental treatment you need.

Over many years, we’ve worked with thousands of nervous patients, and we really do appreciate that it’s a big step to get in contact with us; rest assured that you’re in very safe hands.

Having dedicated ourselves to working with nervous and anxious patients over the last few decades, we’re highly experienced in providing dentistry that doesn’t hurt or make you nervous, and we’d love to help you with whatever you need.

Nervous Patients

We go above and beyond to make you comfortable, with a variety of methods designed to make your treatment more comfortable, including:

1. The Wand

The Wand provides computer-assisted anaesthetic placement without the need for a needle.

The Wand has several advantages:

  • It doesn’t look like a syringe – more like a pen
  • A different part of your gum is numbed – no fat lip, swollen face or slurred speech
  • Less anaesthetic is required – your mouth will feel normal by the time you get home
  • Carry on as normal – you can eat and drink straight after, and you don’t need to worry about biting your lip

2. Sedation

Our team can intravenously sedate you, helping you relax and feel comfortable during your treatment.

Once sedated, you’ll be in a deep state of relaxation (and may even fall asleep), and after your treatment is completed, you’ll likely not remember much of it.

3. Personalised experience

Dental treatment isn’t “one size fits all” – we’ll do all we can to help you feel comfortable, whether it’s listening to your favourite music, podcast or audiobook during your treatment, or sitting down to discuss the treatment in full before we begin; whatever you need, we’ll make it happen.

Simply put, we’ll do whatever it takes to make you feel at ease.

Visiting Brightside Dental – when you arrive:

We understand that a big part of dental anxiety is based on the unknown. These are the five things you can be certain of when you visit us for treatment:

1

A comfortable environment: A dental practice is not just about the treatment room and dental chair. We have a comfortable waiting area, calming music and friendly team members to greet and assist you.

2

Your worries are heard: One of our empathetic dentists will sit down and genuinely listen to your concerns. Maybe you had a bad experience in the past, or you’re just naturally anxious about dental visits. Whatever it is, we’ll do all we can to make your experience as comfortable as possible. By the way, this would all happen well before looking in your mouth!

3

You get the detail that suits you: The unknown is often scarier than the known. We’ll take the time to explain each step of the procedure, so you know exactly what to expect. This transparency can be a game-changer for anxious patients.

4

You don’t get judged: Nervous patients put off going to the dentist for a reason. Often, this can mean their mouth is not in the best condition and often they can feel embarrassed about it, and worried about being told off or lectured. We won’t judge you; all we want to do is help you move towards where you want to be.

5

You’re allowed to go at your pace: You don’t have to rush through anything. If you need a break during a procedure, we’ll give you one. If you want to stop and chat for a bit to calm your nerves, that’s perfectly fine too. It’s all about making you feel in control.

Your Next Step

The next step is up to you – if you’re feeling up to it, we can arrange an initial consultation, where we’ll conduct a 30-point healthy mouth check; we’ll asses the health of your teeth, gums and jaw joint, as well as conducting a mouth cancer check, and including any appropriate X-rays, photos and a full mouth digital screening – all this is an investment of just £125.

However, if you’re not quite at that stage, we’re happy to start by just having a conversation, either in person, on the phone or by email – the important thing is that you’re comfortable

Whatever you decide, please remember that there’s a calm, kind, empathetic and patient Brightside team member available to help whenever you’re ready.
