Each new Brightside patients starts with our 30-point Oral Health Assessment.
Here’s what we’ll do for you during that appointment:

A check of outside the head and neck – the muscles and glands

An observation of all the tissues inside the mouth
3
A computerized digital record of all of the teeth present in the mouth, any past treatment and anything might needed in the future
4
A gum health assessment
5
Checking the jaw joints for clicking and crunching
6
Verifying the bite
7
Taking any X-rays needed to help see in between teeth and inside the teeth
8
A photographic record of your mouth if required
Following the assessment, your dentist will let you know any treatment options required, as well as an idea of costs – at this point you can ask whatever you want, and decide what’s right for you. Don’t worry, there’s no pressure to decide anything at this point.
If you do decide to go ahead, it’s back to reception to arrange appointments and any payment required.

The team at Brightside Dental is excellent!
The receptionists, Krystal and Abi represent the practice so well and are a real pleasure to deal with. When I initially got in touch, I received a reply to my email query within minutes. They are both warm, friendly, professional, and simply fantastic. This is crucial, as they are the first point of contact and make you feel at ease straight away.
Everyone I have dealt with so far has shown great care and professionalism, making me feel comfortable. Dr Minal, Lana, Caroline, and Dr Shahrokh have all been brilliant. They give me the opportunity to ask questions and take time to answer and explain them.
I know that going to the dentist can be associated with negative emotions and fear, but honestly, you won’t feel like that with Brightside Dental. I would wholeheartedly recommend this practice, especially if you are a nervous patient.

Been a patient here for a few years now. Seen the hygienist every 3 months. As I am very phobic about my teeth particularly my top set which after years of poor brushing and only going to the dentists when in pain are in a terrible state. I am never made to feel silly or stupid or that I am doing wrong by being a nervous patient with many phobic behaviours. Negar my hygienist is friendly and very patient with me. Her assistant Elif is also very patient and understanding at the constant need for breaks as I struggle with the machinery and the noise of the dentist office. I am gradually getting better at brushing and through still phobic I am able to go more regularly now and am not so anxious when I walk through the door knowing that Nelgar and Elif will be very welcoming and friendly and helping me with my oral health. I also see Ketan who is my regular dentist. They will make you feel very welcome and help you overcome your phobias in time.

I will write a detailed review which might perhaps help someone in the same position as I was when I nervously approached this practice. My old dentist was retiring and I needed to find a new one I could trust and who would listen and be sensitive to nervous patients. I chose this dentist because of their excellent reviews. Dr Ketan Shah did a thorough exam using 3D technology which meant there wasn’t too much poking about, to my relief. He offered a lot of cosmetic treatment which I refused, as I only want to be able to eat and speak comfortable, not lose too many teeth, and not be in pain. There was no hard sell. But.. I had a lot of work to be done. I opted for sedation for the first treatment, which involved a complex extraction, several fillings and preparation for 2 caps. I was out for 2 hours and can honestly say (to any nervous reader) that I felt NO PAIN during the procedure. As I began to wake up I felt a strong ache in my jaw, as I had held my mouth open for so long. But that was just annoying rather anxiety-inducing. It is such a relief to know that sedation is available and there are dentists at this surgery who are trained to administer it rather than having to call someone in. Dr Minal Shah managed to do all the fillings and cap prep in one sitting, so it was worth the aching jaw. At home, a temporary cover came off as my escort forgot to tell me not to floss. I suggest written instructions for cap/crowns would be helpful for sedated patients. they were immediately able to replace the cover. There is a happy, positive vibe to the whole surgery, from receptionists and nurses to the dentists, which is calming and encouraging (no one wants a stressed dentist). I have to go back for my hygiene treatment so hope to review that when the time comes. temporary
