"I'm very nervous, usually, about coming to the dentist. Sedation has been wonderful for me. I can honestly say that from the minute I walked into the practice until afterwards, absolutely no fear at all."
"If it wasn't for the sedation, I don't think I would have gone through with it. I have no hesitation in recommending this practice for anyone who is nervous."
"I had been scared of dentists my whole life. My main fear was the procedures themselves but also that I wouldn't be taken seriously. For my first treatment I got sedation and I was very happy with the procedure. I have now managed to have a procedure without any sedation."
Intravenous sedation is a technique which brings patient comfort to unparalleled levels. The purpose of sedation is to enable you relax throughout your dental treatment. Even though you are not technically asleep, unlike with a general anaesthetic you may fall asleep and most clients remember very little about the procedure once treatment is complete.
With sedation, you will find that your treatment is performed more comfortably than you may have thought possible. Sedation involves a needle to the back of the hand or the arm to inject a solution which helps you relax, you will be drowsy and unaware of the time passing by. During the entire appointment you will be closely monitored by our highly experienced team members.
Sedation is especially useful for people who:If any of the above apply to you, then yes you a a candidate for sedation.
If you hate the noises, smells and tastes associated with dental clinics and you can't block them out then you may want to experience dental sedation while we do the work.
Recent research has indicated that the number 1 reason adults postpone dental treatment is fear. That's right, not time, not money, but fear! We can help you overcome this.
You become drowsy and unaware of any treatment, but you are still able to co-operate with the dentist. The effects of sedative medicine take some time to wear off and your dentist will tell you how long the drugs will take to clear from your body.
You may feel drowsy and light headed for a few hours, like if you've had a few glasses of wine, but won't suffer with a hangover!
For most people the sedation effects have worn off fully within 24 hours.
You won't be able to drink alcohol, drive or work machinery during this time.
You would need someone to take you home following your visit.
There is an atmosphere of calm and general happiness
Having not been regularly to a dentist for over 30 years due to abject fear and needing a half tooth removed, I did a search online for dentists offering sedation and came across Brightside dental. Having read some glowing reviews I nervously booked my appointment. My opinion so far is the dentist and their team are amazing. There is an atmosphere of calm and general happiness in the surgery which puts you at your ease straight away. I have since coming here had a deep clean (20 years of smoking) and the extraction and can\'t remember much of it, but the results are great and I am very happy with them. I am now looking forward (yes looking forward!) to having my teeth whitened and preparation for an implant to replace the missing tooth. I am so glad I found this surgery and am a lot more positive that I will maintain the health of my teeth in my later years.
