Does busy schedule = bad teeth?

I just did a doubletake when I glanced at the calendar – we’re just a whisker away from June and life is going so fast.

As the saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun, but there is a negative attached: sometimes life can go so quickly that you struggle to make time for the things that don’t feel ‘urgent’, and in the world of dental health that can be very bad news.

When things are busy it can easy to let dental care slide, but the truth is that preventative care is what helps keep problems away, so you don’t end up having to have major treatment further down the line.

So, with that in mind, I thought I’d share five simple things you can do to ensure your regular dental care becomes part of your life, rather than forgotten about and swept under the carpet – a busy schedule doesn’t have to mean bad teeth and compromised oral health:

1.     Routine dental visits

Obvious one this, but critical – your regular dental assessments and hygiene visits are the best way to spot issues quickly, and ensure that issues don’t spiral out of control, and end up costing your teeth (and your wallet)

If you haven’t currently got an appointment booked, you can get one HERE – we offer both Saturdays and late evening slots, so if you’re struggling to cram us into your busy day, that’ll help.

Best way to ensure you always have an appointment booked?

Get one in the diary before you leave the practice next time.

2.     Simple home routine

There are all sorts of gadgets and gizmos for health these days, but the truth is that your at-home dental regime doesn’t need to be rocket science – here are the three simple steps to an achievable dental routine:

·       Brush twice a day (2 minutes, morning and night) using a fluoride toothpaste.

·       Floss or use interdental brushes at least once a day—just pick a time that works for you (even while watching TV!).

·       Mouthwash? Great, but make sure it’s used at a separate time from brushing, like after lunch or snacks.

3.     Dental health on the go

If you’re here, there and everywhere during the week, it’s worth taking some dental products with you – a travel toothbrush in your bad, some floss near your desk, some chewing gum, and a little bottle of mouthwash for that post-lunch rinse.

Adding some of this into your daily routine can help reduce buildup, which can accumulate easily if left unchecked,

4.     Become a member

When you join the Brightside Healthy Mouth For Life Membership club, your routine dental care is included in your subscription – so you’re less likely to skip it. You’ll also get discounts on treatments and priority access in emergencies. It’s peace of mind and practical savings in one.
