Direct Access Hygienist Visits Possible Without Having To See A Dentist

Recently the regulations regarding access for treatment with a dental hygienist have been changed by the General Dental Council (GDC).  Direct Access means patients now have the option to see a Dental Care Professional – a hygienist or a dental therapist without having to first see a dentist and have a prescription for treatment from them.

What this means is dental hygienists and therapists can carry out the full range of treatment options within their scope of practice and training without you having to have seen a dentist to advise on the best course of treatment.

At Brightside Dental, our hygienist Sanaz is fully trained and confident in all aspects of dental care she is able to provide.  We have many clients who only wish to have a hygiene session and may not feel the need to see their dentist at that time.  This is now possible for us to work this way.  If Sanaz does notice any problems in the mouth or areas of concern, she would discuss them with you and advise on whether it would be appropriate to see a dentist for their opinion on whether further treatment is necessary.

We are able to offer early morning, late evening and Saturday appointments to suit busy lifestyles and avoid the need of having to take time off work.
